Change brings fear. A fear that comes from fear of bad outcome of the change. Today let us see how to face this fear of changes.
When you take any person’s life, there are always ups and downs. Especially for persons with disabilities it is inevitable. For persons who need assisance of wheelchair change is constant. Lets see how to overcome this fear of change and come out of it with success. Yes ups and downs come alternatively in everybody’s life. Usually when we see famous people we conclude that their lives are a constant success. No. This is contrary to the truth. The higher you go, so are the pressures. No one can be on the rise permanently. The success lies on the persons ability to conduct oneself during the down time. After every downtime there are changes in the person – good or bad depends on how you handled the situation.
Usually people are afraid of , things that affect their bad changes
existence in a negative way. The question arising is how to deal with our fears of change?
Keep the following in mind
- Most changes do not end worse.
- After analyzing the pros and cons if you feel there is going to be a good outcome, go for it. Most people do not achieve because they do not ‘go for it’.
- Change is apparent, whether you like it or not. For a change to end in success, face the change.
- Shun fear and face the change with courage.

E- Explore "What’s the blockade?"
A- Assess "What can you do?"
R- Respond "What do you do?"
F- Focus "What do you want?"
When the time comes for a big change try to focus on the solution. Yes your complete focus should be on the positive aspects of the change. When doing this you will find the mental blocks and the fear of change slowly turning into excitement, growth and success !
Now the next thing would be to face the possible negative outcomes.

E- Explore "What’s stopping you?"
Now to deal with the possible negative outcome of the change. Write down all the possibilities of negative outcome and try to find a solution with the techniques used in the previous section.
A- Assess "What could you do?"
Now is the time for Assessing and planning. Write down the plan for the transformation in details and in steps. Execute them one by one with good knowledge that was acquired in the steps one and two.
Assessing and planning plays a very important role here. The enemy here satisfaction. Do not get satisfied at this step. Yes this step is tedious and requires effort but this itself is not the end. Now proceed to breaking the big change into smaller goals, make achievable plans for each small goals.
R- Respond "What will you do?"
This is where the rubber meets the road. Putting the plan to action. You need one quality to achieve this – courage. Courage is opposite to fear. Courage is mustered from past experiences. Keep in your mind the past successes you had when going through changes. Go out and just do it…
