Give your views on disability scheme

March 26th, 2007

Residents are being invited to have their say on how disabled people should be treated.

North West Leicestershire District Council is drawing up a disability equality scheme to make sure it treats everyone equally and is asking for comments on a draft.

Chhaya McDonald, policy and performance officer at the council, said: “We recognise we cannot produce this scheme on our own.

“We have listened to the views of the community we serve and our staff in drawing together this draft scheme for consultation.

“We see the engagement with disabled people from across the district, from the very outset of drawing the scheme together, as an integral part of our commitment to delivering our services.

“I would now urge all residents and businesses to read the draft scheme. Comments on its content would be very welcome.” The closing date for responses is March 31.

To request a copy of the draft scheme by post, call the council on 01530 454702.

A copy is available at the council offices in Coalville or on the website: www.nwleics.gov.uk
